GG Glass celebrates the best of National Apprenticeship Week

March 7, 20190

Team GG Glass includes apprentices of all disciplines and trades and are considered an essential part of the business, both now and in the future – that’s why the firm’s celebrating all things apprentice through, ‘National Apprentice Week’.

Currently, GG Glass has 10 Apprentices in branches across the UK, working in a range of roles including Glass Cutters, Glass Processors, Glaziers and Site Fixers.

Apprentices are presented with a range of opportunities within GG Glass, and are given scope to progress and develop their career internally. A number of the firm’s senior figures began their careers as Apprentices, journeying through the ranks and even progressing to Director level.

Ray Moss began as an Apprentice Trainee Estimator with Greenberg Glass in May 2005 , continuing his career with GG Glass. He worked his way through various disciplines including Estimator, Project Manager, Contracts Manager and Branch Manager before being  appointed as Director in January 2018. He explained: “Apprentices are a critical part of a contracting business such as ours and represent a significant percentage of our current and future workforce.

“As a 16-year old, I knew that I didn’t want to pursue higher education and explored various avenues, but the Apprentice route suited my needs, skills and aspirations. It gave me the perfect platform from which to develop a career and to eventually reach Director and Board level.

“We are firm supporters and advocates of the Apprentice career path and are keen to hear from young school leavers who may be interested in a career here with us.”

National Apprentice Week runs from 4th to 8th March. An annual celebration of apprenticeships, the initiative aims to bring the whole apprenticeship community together to celebrate the impact of apprenticeships on individuals, employers and the economy.
